The Whole gamut of electronic music is represented
The festival then really takes off on the Friday evening. Whether in the open air, the 10-masted marquee or in and on the missile bunkers, the whole gamut of electronic music is represented, ranging from techno, trance and house to the harder styles, goa anddrum’n’bass and, of course, classics. Offering enough space for 10,000 people, the ‘OpenAirFloor’ forms the heart of the missile base and it is here that the likes of‘Neelix’, ‘Paul van Dyk’ and the DJ duo ‘Aly & Fila’ from Egypt will be giving all they’ve got. The two artists were even accorded the honour of playing a set at the Pyramids of Giza three years ago.
The ‘Century Circus’ is housed in a 10-masted marquee. Along with the Frankfurt techno legend ‘Sven Väth’, the line-up will also feature internationally acclaimed stars such as ‘Nina Kraviz’ from Russia and ‘Joseph Capriati’ from Italy. Given their mind-blowing set last year, ‘Pappenheimer’ and ‘Kerstin Eden’ will again be playing together as the last act on the Sunday morning.
From deep via tech to bass and electro – there is a wide range of musical styles in the ‘HomeBase’. Stars such as ‘Moonbootica’, ‘Tube & Berger’ and ‘Boris Brejcha’ will be on stage here. The best tracks from over 20 years of rave history will be showcased at the‘Classic Terminal’ by acts such as ‘Dune’ and ‘Talla vs. Taucher’. Teaming up with the Belgian DJ ‘Fred Hush’, the hit producer known from the 90s ‘Emmanuel Top’ will also be on stage. Under his alias ‘B.B.E.’, he was in the European charts for months in 1996 with the track ‘Seven Days and One Week’.
A real underground feeling
The club floors provide a nice contrast to the head floors: with space for just a few hundred people, they create a real ‘underground’ feeling. They are staged by event organisers, labels and club operators from Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In addition to internationally renowned DJs, the spotlight is also on residents and newcomers. The gay-lesbian floor ‘Gayphoria’ will actually be celebrating their 20th NatureOne anniversary. A new floor, however, is the ‘Ragnarøk/Polygon/TKR’, with their multifaceted techno sound from Berlin. At ‘Masters of Hardcore’ from the Netherlands, ‘Mad Dog’, ‘AniMe’and ’Noize Suppressor’, among others, will be inflicting sounds of the tougher type.
NATURE ONE was held for the very first time at Hahn Airport in 1995. Since 1996, ‘Raketenbasis Pydna’ near Kastellaun in the Hunsrück region has become home each year to electronic music fans. NATURE ONE is thus the most time-honoured festival of its kind in Germany. Four days and three nights of camping, partying and electronic beats under the open sky are awaiting some 55,000 visitors. Over 350 internationally renowned DJs & live acts will be showcasing their sounds on 4 head and 19 club floors.
you can camp right next to your cars
Most of the fans arrive at the 100-hectare expanses of the ‘CampingVillage’ as early as the Thursday (2 August). Unlike at other festivals though, they don’thave to manhandle all their gear for kilometres because they can camp right next to their cars. Thousands of hobby DJs bring their sound systems along to practise their art around the clock at their makeshift dance floors. They also have everything with them that they could possibly need for a fun weekend: foam guns, paddling pools, sofas, beer pong equipment etc. They party with friends and complete strangers in a setting that is totally peaceful and tolerant. The ‘DASDING-Opening’ at 8pm on the Thursday traditionally marks the official kick-off, with the DJs of the radio partner DASDING delivering the sounds to get it all under way.
