Boomtown kicks off Chapter 10 with a bang!

Celebrations for Boomtown’s 10th anniversary started in spectacular fashion night after Tiers 1 and 2 sold out in a record-breaking 2 minutes! By the end of the November 1st evening, a massive 15,500 tickets had been snapped up, giving Boomtown’s almighty tenth year a rocket-fuelled launch!

Returning to the Matterley Estate Winchester over 9th -12th August, Boomtown’s trailblazing antics over the past decade have seen significant changes emerge from the festival industry landscape. Since its conception, Boomtown has challenged the standard festival approach by pioneering a truly immersive and escapist environment filled with breathtaking mega stages, handcrafted intricate and interactive street sets, transformed into a living, breathing city by a fictitious storyline and the vibrant characters that populate them.

Boomtown Main Stage 2017

The festival’s music policy to put underrepresented genres front and center by providing a platform for underground music to shine has seen the multi-faceted event grow to exponential proportions, in both size and popularity over the past 10 years to become the mind-blowing, sensory wonderland it’s known for today.

The festival has experienced some highs and lows over the past decade and organizers are ready to put on the best show in their history:

‘We're throwing everything we've got at Chapter 10! Operationally, creatively and musically we're planning the most spectacular experience and a culmination of everything we’ve been working towards and have taken on board ever since the Town's creation back in 2008.’

After the initial flurry of excitement around ticket launch with Tier 1 & 2 selling out completely, there are still plenty of ticket options available via the ticket website, with a variety of payment methods to help with flexibility of reserving a ticket; split payment, deposit and coach travelers. The Child, Teen and Added Extra tickets will become available on November 8th. Alongside ticket release, Boomtown has announced their charity partner for the 2018 event; local youth charity, Winnall Rock School, who provide free music lessons to young people aged 10 to 17 in local neighborhoods where there are higher than national average levels of social deprivation.

"We're absolutely thrilled and delighted to be chosen as Boomtown's charity partner for 2018. Donations will all go directly towards our work with disadvantaged young people learning and making music at our studios and also give them the chance to perform at Boomtown and other festivals and venues in the area. Whoop whoop!"

Marilyn Michalowicz - Trustee, Winnall Rock School

£116,303 was raised for charity at the 2017 festival, with a £32,000 going directly to charities and projects in the local area. They also teamed up with a record-breaking number of charities including local organizations; Street Reach, Hampshire Air Ambulance, Trinity Winchester, Naomi House, and the South Downs National Park Trust, to name just a few… more information on the charity page here.
